Our Mission

The High Tech High Foundation was established in 2001 as the development arm of High Tech High.

What began in 2000 as a bold vision shared by 40 business and civic leaders has grown into a nationally recognized network of 16 schools serving more than 6,400 students and an embedded Graduate School of Education that is helping shape the future of teaching and learning.

From the beginning, High Tech High challenged the idea that public education must choose between academic rigor, real-world learning, and equity. Instead, it demonstrated that students thrive when learning is connected to purpose, community, and authentic work.

Today, the Foundation exists to ensure that this work continues to grow.

Our support extends beyond classrooms and campuses. We help fund internships, fieldwork, college and career pathways, educator development, and the Graduate School of Education's efforts to share proven practices with educators and school systems across the country and around the world.

Why Philanthropy Matters

Many of the experiences that make High Tech High exceptional are not fully funded through public education dollars.

Internships require coordination and industry partnerships. Fieldwork and exhibitions extend learning beyond the classroom. Small schools foster meaningful relationships and personalized support. Teacher residencies and professional learning programs help educators develop the skills needed to transform student outcomes.

Today, the Graduate School of Education's work reaches more than 60 districts and supports over 32,000 educators through professional learning resources, networks, and partnerships. Sustaining and expanding that impact requires visionary partners who believe public education can be both excellent and transformative.
